The Shariah Committee of the Securities and Exchange Organization of Iran (SEO) released its view on Asset tokenization in Capital Market.

A token is an electronic security (document) that represents the value, assets, interests, ownership and rights obtained from the ownership of a tangible or intangible asset and it is accepted by the public.

The requirements of the Shariah Committee regarding the conversion of assets into securities tokens

The supply of tokens that show the holder's ownership of a common share of property or a certain right is permissible, and the transaction of said token is subject to the shariah principles of property transactions related to it. However, those tokens that do not show the holder's ownership of property or certain rights are not shariah-compliant.
It is necessary to provide the token with the possibility of delivering the property or a certain right that the token is related to.
